UP’s largest Covid hospital sees 337 patients in a month

The hospital is set to add beds by next week
NOIDA: The Noida Covid Hospital (NCH), since its inauguration on August 8, has admitted 337 patients, officials said on Sunday. The hospital is set to add beds by next week .

The hospital has been admitting L2 and L3 category patients suffering from bilateral pneumonia and other comorbid conditions, according to the medical superintendent. Currently, two patients are on high flow nasal cannulation/oxygenation (HFNO) support, while there are five patients on Remdesivir in the ICU due to comorbidities and on continuous oxygen support. Also, there are 10 Covid patients just on oxygen support.
The official said the hospital began admitting patients on August 12 and have discharged 227 patients so far. At present (till Sunday), there are 111 patients in its 200-bed L2, L3 Covid facility. Dr Renu Aggarwal, medical superintendent (NCH), said: “Besides patients with mild symptoms, we also have patients suffering from bilateral pneumonia and other comorbid conditions.”
The hospital, said to be the state’s largest hospital, also sends around 25-27 samples daily to Child PGI in Sector 30 for testing. It is set to be upgraded with 200 additional beds. “I will be a 400-bed L2, L3 facility as directed by CM Yogi Adityanath. Tata Trusts will be providing the beds, which will be ready by next week. We can begin operations the following week after floor and duty plans are chalked out,” said Dr Aggarwal.
Patients who have been discharged from the hospital have praised the facility for its services. Manav Kumar said, “I was admitted on September 2 and was treated for 10 consecutive days. I thanked all the medical staff.” Alka Tiwari, another patient who got discharged on September 12, said that the NCH is a “good hospital that includes all modern facilities that were missing until now”.
