Three arrested for college theft in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Three persons, including two brothers, were arrested from Peyarabagan slums for sneaking into David Hare Training College on Ballygunge Circular Road early on Saturday and stealing and and vandalizing the server room. The accused were identified as Biswajit Mondal (24), his brother, Meghnath (22) and Ashok Sarkar (24). Cops seized stolen music equipment, projectors, servers, sound mixing systems and cameras from Sarkar.
Joint CP (Crime) Murlidhar Sharma said further investigations are being carried out. Soma Bandyopadhyay, vice-chancellor of West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration, said experts from the state information and technology (IT) department had visited the premises and are probing the damage to the servers and databases.
She said that a report based on their assessment will be given to state higher education department. The VC said October 1 examination schedule for B.Ed and October 6 schedule for M.Ed will be done as per schedule.
