Parliament session: PM Narendra Modi lauds security forces at borders

An 18-day monsoon session of parliament begins today with special safety measures against the novel COVID-19, including staggered seating arrangement of both houses and social distancing between MPs. While addressing the media before the parliament session Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “May the Parliament Session be a productive one. The session is held amid the spread of the coronavirus. Though there is COVID but there is duty. All norms will be followed”

He added, “I congratulate and express gratitude to all the Members of Parliament as they have joined the session despite of the pandemic. Also, this time Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha will be conducted at different times in a day. Also, it'll be held on Saturday-Sunday too.” He also congratulated the security forces guarding the borders. PM Modi stated that all MPS are with the security forces.

PM Modi also stated, “We want vaccine must be developed at the earliest from any corner of the globe, our scientists succeed and we succeed in bringing everyone out of this problem. Many vital judgments will be taken in this session. I appeal all mediapersons to take preventive measures.”

Ahead of the session, all members were appealed to get themselves tested for the coronavirus and one of them tested positive. Meanwhile, Congress interim Chief Sonia Gandhi will not attend the first part of parliament's monsoon session as she has left the Delhi with his son Rahul Gandhi for her annual check-up abroad.
