Massive package to revive J&K’s ailing economy in offing: LG

SRINAGAR: J&KLieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday disclosed that the Centre will announce a set of measures to revive business and other ailing sectors “within a week”.
Addressing a press conference at the Raj Bhawan here, Sinha said, “For past 15 to 20 years, every sector has suffered losses… The committee constituted by the government of India has submitted its report, which is under consideration at the moment. I think within a week’s time, a major announcement about a big package will be made.”
He also assured a fair probe into the July 18 Amshipora encounter at two separate levels —administration and army. The army had claimed that they killed three “terrorists”. However, a month later the families of the deceased claimed that the slain were their wards, who had gone to Shopian for work.
Sinha also said that ‘public durbars’ will be held every Wednesday at divisional and sub-divisional levels across J&K where the administration will listen to people’s grievances and try to solve them.
The ‘Back to Village’ programme will commence from October 2, he added. The programme is aimed to involve the people of the Union territory and government officials in a joint effort to deliver equitable development.
