On 12th Sep, Saturday, the 2020 Shanghai Tourism Festival kick started at the Nanjing Road Walkway, with an aim to boost up the culture and tourism consumption in the coming autumn.
Around 40,000 residents and tourists took part in the opening ceremony. The maximum pedestrian volume reached about 36,000 on 8 p.m., almost twice as many as 2019’s festival.
A scientific security plan was devised by the Shanghai Police and deployed over 1,000 police officers to manage the crowds, stop unprecedented accidents and maintain safety of residents as well as tourists.
This festival will last until September 27th. It features 102 travel routes and products along with 156 activities.
At the festival, Trip.com Group, Meituan, Baidu and other cultural, tourism and internet giants will introduce their special activities in the forthcoming weeks to provide brand-new experiences to tourists.
Also for the first time, Shanghai introduced an online festival platform, on which people can get direction time to time, and traveling and shopping related information by scanning a QR code on their cellphones.
Also, there are other festival-related activities. Disneyland Park, Shanghai Wild Animal Park and Shanghai Zoo and other well-known spots and museums in Shanghai are providing half-price entrance tickets from September 12th, as part of 2020 Shanghai Tourism Festival’s activities.
For the first time, provinces and cities across the Yangtze River Delta together partaken in the festival by setting up special venues in Nantong, Wenzhou, and Huangshan, launching cross-provincial tourist activities, and offering tourism products with discounts.
