SAD (D) meets SGPC chief, seeks clarification on missing Saroops

LONGOWAL (SANGRUR): Led by Panj Piaras, a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal Democratic leaders, representatives of various religious, social, local Gurdwara Management Committees, Panchayats and clubs besides a large number of Sangat visited Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, went to his residence and asked questions about 328 missing Guru Granth Sahibs.
They demand that the SGPC chief should make public the truth about the sacred granths that have gone missing.
In view of the development, the police made elaborate security arrangements around Bhai Longowal's house to stop the sangat.
The protesters said they had come to awaken the conscience of the president of the SGPC so as to alleviate the pain caused by the disappearance of the holy relics.
Later, the police allowed Panj Piaris and some leaders to hold discussions with Shiromani Committee President Bhai Longowal.
The leaders stated that manner in which the was handled had caused suspension amongst the sangat.
On this occasion senior leader of Akali Dal Seva Singh Sekhwan said that it was very unfortunate that 328 sacred saroops of Guru Granth Sahib were lost.
He said the SGPC should explain the real facts behind the disappearance of the saroops.
Former deputy speaker Bir Davinder Singh said that the issue of disappearance of holy relics is very critical and serious matter so it is the responsibility of Bhai Longowal as the President of the Shiromani Committee to take the report submitted by the Shiromani Committee to Akal Takhat Sahib and in case there is any negligence in maintenance of the saroops, strict action should be taken.
