Covid-19: Gujarat adds 1,334 positive patients, 17 deaths in 24 hours

AHMEDABAD: In 24 hours ending 5pm on Monday, Gujarat recorded 1,334 positive cases, taking the total to 1.14 lakh. It was the sixth consecutive day for the state to record 1,300 plus daily positive cases.
The new cases included 278 from Surat, 175 from Ahmedabad, 151 from Rajkot, 131 from Vadodara, and 120 from Jamnagar. With the update, the cumulative cases in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot reached 33,985, 24,459, 9,949 and 6,848 respectively.
The state also recorded deaths of 17 positive patients, taking the total to 3,230. The deaths included three each from Ahmedabad, Surat and Gandhinagar, two each from Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar, and one each from Vadodara and Bharuch. It was the lowest daily death toll for Surat district in 10 days. With the update, the cumulative deaths in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot reached 1,761, 695, 152 and 115.
A total of 1,255 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 95,265. The discharges include 265 from Surat, 193 from Ahmedabad, 129 from Jamnagar, 106 from Vadodara, and 78 from Rajkot.
With the update, the number of active patients in Gujarat reached 16,501, which accounts for 14.3% of the total positive patients in the state so far. The share of discharged and deceased patients is now at 82.8% and 2.9% respectively. As of Monday evening, 93 patients were on ventilator in the state.
In 24 hours, the state carried out 71,507 tests, taking the total to 33.6 lakh. The state health department said that the figure is 1100 tests per day per million population. As on Monday evening, Gujarat had 7.46 lakh persons under quarantine - out of which 525 were under facility quarantine, whereas the rest under home quarantine.
