30-yr-old arrested for trying to loot ATM

Noida: A 30-year-old man was arrested late on Friday for allegedly attempting to loot an HDFC ATM in Sector 126 along with his three accomplices. His three other accomplices managed to flee from the spot. The arrested accused has been identified as Tahir Hussain, a native of Mewat.
Police received information that a group was cutting an ATM kiosk and was trying to loot it. Soon, a PCR team arrived with Sector 49 police and arrested Hussain.
“His other accomplices managed to flee in different directions,” said additional DCP Ranvijay Singh.
He told TOI that the accused were carrying a gas cutter which they were using to dismantle the ATM and were trying to take out cash from inside the machine.
Police have recovered a Santro car in which the group arrived, a pistol and some bullets from Hussain’s possession.
This is the third incident of ATM loot in the past one month. On August 13, some assailants decamped with an ATM containing Rs 4 lakh cash. A fortnight ago too, some assailants tried to uproot the machine from a kiosk in Harola in Sector 5.
