Pune: Online escort service busted in Thergaon, six women rescued; three arrested

Pune: An alleged sex racket was busted by Pune City Police Crime Branch recently which was being functioned through an online escort service and rescued six women, including four foreign residents. The arrested suspects have been identified as Farzana Ismail Pathan, Archana Ajinath Kamble and Sachin Ashok Khandagale.

Wakad police conducted the operation in Thergaon and released six women. The suspects have been remanded in police custody till Monday. Sub-Inspector of Police Sangeeta Gode lodged a complaint at Wakad Police Station. Wakad's senior police inspector Vivek Mugalikar said, “Two women were running the online business in a posh society based in Thergaon.”

He added, "The woman told that they were lured into the escort service.  During the raid, the police seized nine mobile phones and Rs 4,000 from the suspects and the victim."

The operation was conducted under the Zero Tolerance Campaign by the newly-appointed Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash. He had earlier said that ‘a zero tolerance program would be implemented in the city to control the crime.’
