Vegetable prices more than double by reaching the kitchen from the market

You may be surprised to know that the vegetable that you get in the mandis at 25 to 30 rupees a kg, by the time you reach your kitchen, it becomes 50 to 60 rupees a kg. The wholesale and retail rates of vegetables are more than double this time. People have to pay for this difference by loosening their pockets.

Especially because the supply is low due to the Corona crisis and rain, due to which the prices of vegetables are already high in the market.

Due to an increase in the price of vegetables, according to the area and quality, in the colonies, potatoes are getting 30 to 50 rupees per kg, while the price of tomatoes is also 50 to 60 rupees per kg. The highest prices are of peas and coriander. Peas range from Rs 120 to Rs 140 per kg and coriander for Rs 200 per kg. Prices of other vegetables are also much higher than normal days.

Azadpur mandi wholesaler Sandeep Khandelwal said that due to rain, crops of most farmers have been destroyed. In such a situation, the price of the remaining crop itself has increased. The lockdown during the Corona epidemic was completed.

Due to all these reasons, the arrival of vegetables in the market has reduced. This is directly impacting the increase in the price of vegetables. The price of vegetables comes from the back. However, retailers increase the price of vegetables by reaching the colonies arbitrarily.

There is more difference between posh colonies

The wholesaler of Azadpur mandi, Jasraj said that after reaching the mandis from the big mandis, they reach the small mandi. From here, the retailer who sells vegetables in the colony, according to the colony, decides the rate of the vegetable. The more a posh colony is, the more there is an increase in the price.

At times, there is a difference of up to 50 rupees in the price of vegetables in the posh colony compared to other colonies. This is the reason that the potato which is being sold for 30 to 35 rupees kg in the rest of the colonies, is sold easily in the posh colonies for 45 to 55 rupees kg.

Price may increase even more in the coming days

Rohit Garg, a retail vegetable vendor in the Sudamapuri area of North East Delhi, said that in the coming days, prices of vegetables may increase further. Because more money is being spent on the transportation of vegetables from big mandis to the colony. For this, the retailer has to spend more money than before. If the arrival of vegetables in the mandis is still low, then the prices of vegetables can increase further in the retail market due to all the reasons.

The condition is already worsened due to corona disease. Above all, the increased prices of vegetables have spoiled the budget.

Inflation is increasing day by day. Due to the price of potato and onion, now the plate has also become expensive.
