Get A Close-Up Look At The 2021 VW Golf Variant And Alltrack

Hot on the heels of the VW Golf Mk8 Variant and Alltrack making their online debut, Autogefühl has had the opportunity to check out the two new Golf models up close.

The video starts off with the Golf Variant, which will be dubbed the Estate in various markets. This particular red example is fitted with the R Line trim that provides a sportier look. It is also equipped with the Black Package that includes black wheels, side skirts, front grille and rear diffuser. The window trims are also finished in black, as are the wing mirrors.

One of the key points of difference between the Golf Variant and the Alltrack compared to the hatchback is the fact that they benefit from a longer wheelbase that adds 1.5 inches of additional legroom at the rear. The rest of the interior is pretty much the same as the hatchback.

While we’ve yet to experience the Golf Mk8 for ourselves, we’ve heard mixed things about the interior. On a technology standpoint, it is a significant step up over the previous-generation model, thanks in no small part to the digital instrument cluster and large central infotainment screen, as well as a sleek new three-spoke steering wheel. It all looks very nice, but there have been some complaints about the touch/slide controls used to adjust things like the volume.

The Golf Alltrack has the same body as the Variant, but benefits from some extra ground clearance and comes standard with a 4Motion all-wheel drive system and sports black plastic cladding across the bodywork.
