The Election Commission has issued a notice of the amended provision in view of the Bihar elections. Under this, provision has been made to replace the battery of the control unit at the booths as per the requirement. If during the voting, there is a need to change the battery of the control unit at the booths, this work can be done in the presence of the field officer, the presiding officer, the polling officers, and the officials present on the election duty in the field.

According to the new rules, the Presiding Officer has got the right to change the control unit. Earlier, the Election Commission had given permission to change the battery of VVPAT only when required.
