Representative ImageAMBALA: The police arrested five members of a gang conducting reconnaissance of road tax authority (RTA) Ambala officials in Naraingarh on Saturday late night.
Arrested accused have been identified as Ram Singh, Armaan, Mandeep Kumar, Hemant Singh, and Raja alias Samrat while the arrest of the main accused Rameshwar alias Rajiv of Nohni village of Ambala district is pending, told Naraingarh police station house officer (SHO) sub-inspector Gurmail.
SHO Gurmail said, “On Sunday, all five accused were presented in the court from where they were released on bail while the arrest of Rajiv is pending. We are investigating the case further and accused Rajiv will be arrested soon.”
On Saturday, on the complaint of Ambala additional deputy commissioner (ADC) cum secretary of state RTA, a case was registered against six named accused who allegedly conducted recce of RTA officials and helped transporters to pass through the district with overloaded vehicles.
Accused formed several WhatsApp groups and tracked official vehicles of RTA teams and passed the location information to a large number of transporters of the region who are members of groups in exchange for money the ADC Ambala told after busting this gang.
