Representative imageGREATER NOIDA: The third person accused in the murder of a retired Delhi Police officer’s son allegedly surrendered before the police and was subsequently arrested. Sher Singh alias Sheru, who was also a police informer, was stabbed to death in Dadri by three men on September 8.
The two other accused — Jamshed and Shoaib — were arrested earlier.
The third, Waseem, reportedly called up some mediapersons in Ghaziabad and expressed desire to surrender in court. Since the court was closed on Saturday, he called up reporters and surrendered before the cops.
Sources said he initially did not want to surrender before the cops, fearing encounter. Plainclothesmen went to Kaila Bhatta area in Ghaziabad and brought him to Dadri in a private Ertiga.
Videos of the alleged surrender went viral. In one of the clips, Waseem could be seen walking towards the car and sitting inside it.
Police, however, ruled out that Waseem had surrendered and claimed he was arrested. Senior sub-inspector Deshraj Singh told TOI was picked up from Ghaziabad.
Asked about the videos of his surrender, the police officer declined comment.
Sheru, whose father retired as an assistant sub-inspector of Delhi Police, had helped cops in Dadri crack several cases. He had become popular in his area and was known to have made several enemies because of his ties with police.
