PM inaugurates three key projects related to Petroleum sector in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated three key projects related to the Petroleum sector in Bihar through video conferencing. The projects include, the Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur Pipeline Augmentation Project and two LPG Bottling Plants in East Champaran and Banka. The Bottling Plants will empower the Atmanirbhar Bihar’ by meeting the rising demand for LPG in the state.

LPG Bottling Plants in East Champaran and Banka have a combined bottling capacity of 80 thousand cylinders per day. The Banka Plant will serve Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar districts in Bihar and Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Sahibganj and Pakur districts in the neighbouring Jharkhand .

Similarly, the East Champaran Plant will serve over five lakh consumers in East and West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Gopalganj and Sitamarhi in Bihar and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said gas based industry and petro connectivity will give momentum for development in Bihar and Eastern India. Mr Modi said, 900 crore petro projects will provide ample job opportunities. New industry will be establised after gas connectivity. He said, one crore 25 lakh cyllinders will be filled per year at botting plants in Banka and East Champaran.

The Prime Minister said, out of ten projects of petroleum and natural gas projects in Bihar under PM package, seven projects have been completed. Mr Modi said, seven states will be connected through three thousand Km gas pilpeline under Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Yojana.

Prime Modi Narendra Modi said, eight crore people were provided gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Mr Modi said, during corona period free gas cyllinders became a boon for poor people.

The Prime Minister said, gas connectivity has changed life pattern of people.

The 193-kilometre long Durgapur-Banka pipeline section is a part of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur Pipeline Augmentation Project, for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister on 17th of February last year.

The cost of Banka Plant is 131.75 crore rupees while that of East Champaran Plant is 136.4 crore rupees. The two plants were envisaged under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. These plants have also created direct and indirect employment opportunities for about one thousand people in nearby rural areas.

Prime Minisrer Modi lauded Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying he played a very important role in taking Bihar forward on the path to progress. He said, in the last 15 years, Bihar has shown that development happens with the right government, decisions and policies, and also reaches everyone. He said that institutes of higher learning have come up fast under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar . The Prime Minister said that Mr Kumar has played a significant role in their aim towards a New India, New Bihar.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has helped a lot to rural women during corona period. Mr Kumar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for upliftment of women.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwani Kumar Choubey and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also addressed the people.
