LUCKNOW: City students who scored well in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) — a gateway for admission to top engineering institutes in the country — shared that good scores amid coronavirus
pandemic had cut down their future worries.
Candidates shared that they appeared for the same examination in January when the pandemic was nowhere in the picture and then in September when it is peaking. This made them realise that one should value good times, accept challenges and look for solutions and positivity in negative situations.
“Appearing in the exam during pandemic was stressful as the uncertainty haunted us. However, I continued my studies and scored better than my January attempt since I didn’t let paranoia overwhelm me,” said 99.9
percentile scorer Aditya Pandey.
“It gave me more time to prepare and restricted availability of everything, saving time,” he added.
“My dream is to pursue computer science in
IIT-Delhi and use my knowledge to handle such crisis by developing artificial intelligencebased software that can provide a fillip to health sector,” Pandey said.
Another 99.9 percentile scorer Naman Pratap, who wants to make his career in research, said, “My scores have improved in comparison to last attempt. My parents and I didn’t take any health risk during the challenging time, so I studied and lived in isolation which proved to be a boon.”
Shivang Pandey with 99.9 percentile echoed similar sentiments.
Scoring 99.6 percentile,
Srijay Singh Gusain said, “Those who will appear for the exam next year should just focus on studies than thinking about the virus and its impact on their future.”
Flaunting 99.8 percentile, Amritesh Sharma said, “Clarity in concepts is key. Rote learning may help you with a few questions, but you are bound to fail if you lack a clear and thorough understanding of a topic in any subject.”
