The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday criticised the recent announcement by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that the government contemplates opening of schools in a phased manner from September 20 onwards.

“With the COVID-19 graph increasing in the state, only a clueless Chief Minister can take such a decision,” the AAP spokesperson, Surel Tilve said while criticising the decision to reopen schools in the state.

Further indicating that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress are on the same side of the coin, the AAP said that the alliance of the two parties, which is “Congress Janata Party”, has no intentions to work for the betterment of Goans.

Addressing a press conference, Tilve said that the battle lines are drawn with “Congress Janata Party” on one side and Goans as well as AAP on the other. “Every time we expose the BJP government’s inability to work for Goans, Congress starts targeting us as an ally to BJP,” he added.

Speaking further, Tilve said that Congress has now started a campaign that AAP is spending Rs 50 crores in Goa. “It’s a joke; a party which has made Goa a den of corruption through the decades is accusing honest parties now,” he maintained, pointing out, “By doing so, they are also accusing the media of being corrupt.”

The AAP spokesperson also raised concern over the rise in COVID-19 cases in Goa and the government’s response towards it. “At a time when the number of COVID-19 cases in Goa is on the rise, BJP’s health minister and Chief Minister are continuing to be arrogant,” he observed.

Tilve also went on to question the inconsistent decision making and lack of amenities by the government for COVID-19 patients. “Why it took so long for the Health Minister and Chief Minister to decide a feasible Home isolation policy,” he questioned while criticising the delay on the part of the government in providing oximeters to home isolation patients.
