NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over
poor Covid patients being fleeced by
private ambulance operators for transporting them to
hospitals,
the Supreme Court on Friday directed states to fix a
reasonable charge for the services and ensure that people are not forced to pay more.
An SC bench also said the advisories and SOPs framed by the health ministry were binding for states. It said all states must ensure that sufficient number of ambulances are made available in each district as per the Centre’s advisory.
