NEET 2020 exam tomorrow: NTA guidelines on dress code, slot time, barred items

NEW DELHI: Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, National Testing Agency has implemented a comprehensive plan to hold NEET UG examination in a hassle-free manner. Over 15 lakh candidates have registered for the NEET examination, which will be conducted on Sunday, September 13.
Considering the pandemic threat, NTA has reduced the number of candidates per room from earlier 24 to 12 now. Advisory regarding Covid 19 has been released by NTA for ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit of candidates has been staggered. Adequate arrangements have also been made outside the examination centers to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing, while waiting.

Changes in admit card
The following changes have been made in the admit card:
To avoid crowds at the examination centre entrance due to candidates reaching together, they will be given staggered time slots for reporting. The staggering of time slots will be done to ensure uniform distribution of candidates across rooms during entry at the examination centres
A prior communication on this process of staggered entry will be shared with the candidates through admit card and through SMS.
Dress Code
The candidates are instructed to follow the following dress code while appearing for NEET (UG) 2020:
Items permitted into the examination room/hall for candidates
Candidates will be permitted to carry only these items with them into the examination room/hall:
Candidates should note that no other items will be permitted inside the examination room/hall. The admit card will clearly state what candidates are permitted to carry and what they are not permitted to carry.

The candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the examination centre under any circumstances.

Changes in admit card
The following changes have been made in the admit card:
- Specific instructions to maintain social distancing and other instructions related to COVID-19
- Staggered Time Slot for the candidates reporting at the examination centres – to be printed as “Slot (time)” such as 11.00 A.M. -11.30 A.M.
- List of items permitted in exam rooms
- A hyperlink to location of the centre so that Candidate may verify the location of the centre in advance by clicking on the link (when candidate clicks the Centre details).
- In case of PwD candidate availing a scribe, both the candidate and scribe must wear the masks
- Entry of candidates as per time slot given in admit card

Dress Code
The candidates are instructed to follow the following dress code while appearing for NEET (UG) 2020:
- Light clothes with long sleeves are not permitted. However in case, candidates come in cultural/ customary dress at the Examination Centre, they should report at least an hour before the last reporting time i.e. 12.30 pm so that there is enough time for proper frisking without any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the examination.
- Slippers, sandals with low heels are permitted. Shoes are not permitted.
Items permitted into the examination room/hall for candidates
Candidates will be permitted to carry only these items with them into the examination room/hall:
- Mask on face
- Gloves on hand 10.2.2
- Personal transparent water bottle
- Personal small hand sanitizer (50 ml)
- Exam related documents as instructed
- NEET UG Admit Card
- Government valid ID card, etc
Candidates should note that no other items will be permitted inside the examination room/hall. The admit card will clearly state what candidates are permitted to carry and what they are not permitted to carry.
Candidate Frisking
- Body pat frisking will not be done
- Frisking by metal detector held with long handle will be mandatory for all candidates
- Frisking personnel will ensure that while frisking metal detector does not come in physical contact with any candidate
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signal presence will be checked inside the examination rooms and examination centres
- During the conduct of examination, all the installed jammers/ CCTVs (if applicable) will be functional as per NTA guidelines
Barred Items
The candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the examination centre under any circumstances.
- Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner etc.
- Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band etc.
- Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap etc.
- Any Watch/Wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, etc.
- Any ornaments/metallic item.
- Any food items opened or packed, water bottles etc.
- Any other item which could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices like microchip, camera, Bluetooth device etc.
