Soumitra Khan, the president of the youth wing of the West Bengal BJP, has been taken into custody outside the Police Commissioner's office on Saturday on charges of picketing and blocking the road. police gave this information.

The BJP MP from Bishnupur Lok Sabha seat along with other party workers staged a sit-in protest against the arrest of Bappa Chatterjee, the state secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Police said that Chatterjee was arrested on Friday for sharing a fake image of the signboard of Asansol municipality on social media.

Before being taken into custody, Khan said, "We are staging a sit-in protest against the arrest of our party workers and demand their immediate release." A senior police official said that despite repeated calls to end the sit-in, BJP youth unit workers remained seated and blocked the road for several hours from the morning.

The officer said, 'So we had to end the protest by force. All the BJP workers detained, including Soumitra Khan, were later released.
