Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav ThackerayAYODHYA: Seers of Ayodhya and Vishwa Hindu Parishad that spearheaded the temple movement, on Friday said, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray was no longer welcome in the temple town, following Shiv Sena’s face-off with actor Kangana Ranaut. The Sena-run Mumbai civic body’s move to demolish the actor’s office has further hardened the stand of sadhus and VHP office-bearers.
Thackeray visited Ayodhya on November 24, 2018, then on June 16 last year and again in March this year after becoming chief minister, though he skipped the bhoomipujan ceremony in August. One of the sadhus of Hanumangarhi temple, Mahant Raju Das, questioned the demolition of Kangana Ranaut's office and said, “Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena have moved away from the path of Hindutva and are no longer welcome here.”
Questioning the inaction of the Maharashtra government on the lynching of two seers at Palghat, he said, “The Sena was quick to crack down on the actor, but are yet to take action against the killers of two sadhus.” Mahant Param Hans Das of Tapaswi Chawni Temple, said, “It is clear that Shiv Sena is deliberately targeting Kangana Ranaut because she is supporting nationalist forces and has raised her voice against the drug mafia in Mumbai.”
President of Ayodhya Seers Committee, Mahant Kanhaiya Das, accused the Uddhav-led Maharashtra government of shielding those involved in anti-social activities and warned the Sena chief minister not to set foot in Ayodhya again.
