PATNA: A police outpost in-charge was arrested in Rohtas on Saturday after an alleged call recording of obscene conversation between him and a woman went viral over which senior police officers took immediate cognizance of the matter and ordered for registering FIR against him.
The arrested police officer is Kameshwar Narayan Yadav who was in-charge of Dharampura police outpost under Nokha police station area in Rohtas.
Police said Yadav, a sub-inspector rank officer, is aged around 54 years while the woman with whom he had a obscene telephonic conversation is aged around 26 years.
Police sources said Yadav was at his outpost on Friday night when he was asked to come at Sanjhauli police station.
They said Yadav left his outpost informing his sub-ordinates that he was going to Sanjhauli for some work but he was detained after reaching there before being finally arrested on Saturday morning.
Sanjhauli police station SHO Dharmendra Kumar said Yadav was arrested on Saturday morning after an FIR was registered against him with Sanjhauli police station in Rohtas on Friday on basis of woman’s statement after receiving direction of senior police officers.
He said the woman with whom a recording of obscene telephonic conversation of Yadav has gone viral, is resident of a village under Sanjhauli police station area and is accused in a scuffle case.
“Yadav was actually station house officer of Sanjhauli police station around three months back. That time the scuffle case was registered against few persons including the woman. From here, she had come in contact with Yadav,” he said.
SHO Kumar said both probably used to talk on phone and perhaps the woman wanted to get her name removed from case in supervision due to which she used to call Yadav.
“Yadav later got posted as in-charge of Dharampura outpost but both stayed in her touch. Things will become clear from call detail records and further investigation,” he said.
SHO said the woman told police that the particular call recording which went viral is around two months old.
“She had made the call to Yadav herself. The call recording later went in hand of a scribe after which his surfaced in social media platforms and went viral,” he said.
SHO said that Bikramganj SDPO Raj Kumar had also reached Sanjhauli on Friday to look into the matter. “Yadav would be forwarded to jail by Saturday evening after Covid-19 test,” he added.
