Follow the News18 Sports' live blog on the US Open men's singles semi-finals, which will start with Zverev and Carreno Busta and will be followed by Thiem and Medvedev. Both Alexander Zverev and Pablo Carreno Busta are eyeing their first Grand Slam final and this is a second semi-final for both of them. While this is a second US Open semi-final for Carreno Busta, it's a first in Flushing Meadows for Zverev. In the match-up between Medvedev and Thiem, both are Grand Slam finalists. While Thiem is a two-time French Open finalist, Medvedev played Rafae Nadal in the final of the US Open last year.

Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 3-2* Dominic Thiem | An easy hold for Thiem this one. Post his service break in the very first game of the second set, the Austrian has been solid and has not really allowed Medvedev into his service games. A few minutes of concentration drop and Thiem is having to chase this second set.

During his third service game with Dominic Thiem up a break point, Daniil Medvedev served up a double fault and he wanted to challenge but the chair umpire ruled that he was late and so, he wasn't allowed to do it. He crossed the net to show the ball impression for which he was given a court violation. He was not impressed and decided to speak to the supervisor, who said it was the umpire's decision.
He said, "US Open is a joke...Aah, aah, sorry I think I killed someone."
After the next service game, he said to the supervisor, "You guys sit near the court all the time, you don't do ANYTHING. You don't do ANYTHING."
Dominic Thiem takes the first set of the second men's singles semi-final inside 30 minutes. He broke Daniil Medvedev for the second time to grab the set 6-2 and take a 1-0 lead in the semi-final. Medvedev just made a ton of unforced errors after his disagreement with the chair umpire and supervisor.

Daniil Medvedev 2-5* Dominic Thiem | Drama ensued after Thiem broke, where Medvedev wanted to challenge his own serve and was not allowed by the chair umpire after which he even exchanged a few words with the supervisor and was given a code violation too. However, Thiem did well to hold his composure and hold his serve easily.
Daniil Medvedev 2-4* Dominic Thiem | Medvedev and Thiem go backhand to backhand before the latter unleashes his down-the-line backhand winner to grab the first point. However, Medvedev then mixes it up with a couple of serves to the T to get to 30-15. At 30-30, Thiem unleashes a stunning, deep return that Medvedev could only blast over. However, another break point down, Medvedev went for his big first serve again to get to deuce. At 40-40, the two engaged in a physical rally where they blasted forehand to forehand and backhand to backhand, moving across the court, before Thiem struck to bring up another break point. Then Medvedev double faults to help Thiem break.
Daniil Medvedev 1-1* Dominic Thiem | This one gives the feeling that it is going to be a high-quality match! Singlehand and double-handed backhand battle, big forehand battles, a tactical one! Medvedev takes the first point in his service but Thiem comes up with a beautiful backhand volley to get himself in the game. Early on, Medvedev is opening up his arms as he faces a battle on deuce. A stunning set of points from Medvedev, where he stretched Thiem all court and then comes forward and smashes a volley to his forehand.
One five-setter down, another one incoming?

What Medvedev and Thiem Said Ahead of the Semi-final
Daniil Medvedev:
"He (Thiem) hits strong, he is aggressive, he can serve well and return well and he is one of the best world's best player, so hopefully I can do well."
Dominic Thiem:
"I am super happy with the first five matches and very happy to be in my first semis here. I am up against one of the best, hoping to do well.
"We are both able to hold our level for many hours on the court. Whoever has the better game today will win, it is probably 50-50."
"Looking at the scoreboard, down 2-0, I was like 'I can't believe it. I am playing in a Slam semi-final and I'm supposed to be the favourite.' I knew I had to play better tennis, it was different since I had played in the mornings.
"I knew I had to play better, I had never come back from two sets to love, so yeah.
"I had to change something, I had to be more aggressively and that worked out well.
"I will definitely watch it (the other men's singles semi-final), probably live. It is going be an interesting match. Can't wait for the final."
Alexander Zverev reached his very first Grand Slam final with a 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 win over Pablo Carreno Busta. This was also the first time in the German's career that he came back from two sets down. Carreno Busta will be devastated by this even as the happiness on Zverev's face was evident.

Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 3-4* Zverev | Carreno Busta continues to push around holding his own serve in this deciding set after being broken once. Zverev perhaps wanted a double in this one as he smacks the back away after his return went long and the Spaniard got his third game on the board.

Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 1-3* Zverev | Zverev holds his serve with ease to further his advantage in the deciding set. Right now, he would be concentrated on holding his serve and finding opportunity on Carreno Busta's. The Spaniard will pretty much have the same thing running through his head.
Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 0-2* Zverev | A brilliant volley from Zverev at 30-30 and that shows that the German is now playing with confidence. On the verge of going 2-0 down, Carreno Busta come up with a spinny forehand to take it to deuce. Thereafter, a rally ensues between the two, wherein Zverev finds the line on Carreno Busta's backhand, which the Spaniard somehow returns only for the German to close out with a volley. However, then Carreno Busta comes up with a beautiful backhand spin close to the net that Zverev can't get to and we go back to deuce. Zverev then again puts up a combination play of wide shot and volley to get advantage. He then serves and volleys to hold his serve. This is on Zverev's plate now!
Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 0-1* Zverev | In the very first game of the fifth set, Carreno Busta is broken by Alexander Zverev! This is exactly the start the German wanted and the worst possible one for the Spaniard. Will Zverev finally break the five-set hoodoo? Will he make his first Grand Slam final from here?
