Nagpur girl Indrayani JEE state topper
NAGPUR: After the gloomy news all around due to Covid-19 pandemic, there’s something for Nagpur to cheer about. Local girl Indrayani Tayde has topped Maharashtra in JEE (Main) in the female category. With a score of 99.97 percentile, she has not only made it to the top but also kept her track record of academic success intact.
Two years ago in Std X, as a student of Somalwar High School (Nikalas branch), Tayde had featured in the toppers list.
“I am very happy with the score but never did I imagine it would amount to this. State topper in female category is something which did not cross my mind,” said Tayde, as TOI told her about the achievement. At the time of this conversation, she had been unable to download her result. But her name had featured in the state toppers list compiled by the authorities.
JEE (Main) is conducted twice a year. January and April. Due to lockdown, the April version of the test was held in September. In January edition Tayde had scored 99.87 percentile. The increase in score now is due to various factors, she said. “We had finished syllabus in September 2019 itself. After that, it was all about preparing for the exam and its pressure. You have to build up a temperament to handle the exam. The lockdown obviously gave us a bit more time to practise,” said Tayde.
Dilip Vaidya, director of academics at ICAD where Tayde underwent coaching, said “She was already practising more for JEE Advanced rather than JEE Main. That reflected in her confidence, something I can see from her test analysis.”
Her focus now will be JEE (Advanced), the sole gateway to IITs. “I have not decided on stream and institute, as it’s too early. Everything will depend on my score in Advanced exam,” said Tayde.
