Punjab: Khanna police arrest two drug peddlers, recover 2 kilogram opium

LUDHIANA: Khanna police have arrested two drug peddlers after it recovered two kilograms of opium and cash from their possession. The accused were identified as Pardeep Yadav of Kakergarh in Jharkhand now at Mohalla Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji Nagar near Basti Jodhewal and Chamkaur Singh Gopi of Chahar in Ludhiana.
Giving details, SSP Khanna Harpreet Singh on Saturday said that on Friday, sub inspector Vijay Kumar alongwith Police Party had set up a check post at G.T road Khanna near Pristine Mall. He added that police party saw a suspected person coming from Gobindgarh side through service lane and he was carrying a grey colour bag.
Police officer said that after seeing the police party, he tried to flee away, but was caught and identified as Pardeep. He added that on his frisking, 2 kilograms of opium was recovered from his bag.
Cops said that after lodging the case, accused was arrested. They added that during investigation it has come to light that he was going to supply this opium to Chamkaur Singh of Chahar in Ladhowal Ludhiana (who was also nominated in this case). They added that later on, Chamkaur Singh was also arrested in the same case and cash Rs.75,000 was recovered from him.
