Gurgaon: The municipal corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Friday approved the tender allotment of renovation of nine parks, which will cost Rs 1.83 crore, located in Palam Vihar area. Besides the nine parks, three other project estimates were approved by mayor Madhu Azad and other MCG officials in a meeting convened on Friday.
Another project of laying 80mm interlocking tiles, sewer line and disposal unit from cremation ground in Ghata to Golf Course extension road was also approved. Another project to renovate seven other parks in Palam Vihar estimated to cost around Rs 2.36 crore was also taken up in the meeting. However, it was decided that the officials will first visit these parks and then take a decision. “Only five agendas of the tender allotment were tabled in the meeting of which four were approved and site inspection was ordered for the fifth project,” said an MCG official.
In the last meeting, officials had approved the tender allotment for beautification of 21 parks in the city. Of these 21 parks, eight are in Palam Vihar, nine in Sector 23 and four in South City 2.
The mayor said that the agenda of the meeting had only five allotment cases since the technical and financial approvals will now be given through the works management system (WMS), which is a new web portal launched by the urban local bodies department.
Meanwhile, the mayor expressed her displeasure after some executive engineers reported late to the meeting. She instructed the chief engineer to issue notices to the engineers for coming late.
In the last House meeting on August 28, civic commissioner had instructed the engineering wing to send work orders of development projects going on in the city to the mayor, her team and concerned councillors. However, it was found in the meeting that the officials are yet to receive work orders by the engineering wing.
Follwoing this, the chief engineer assured that work orders will be sent to them at the earliest and in case the engineering wing officials fail to do so, action will be taken against them.
Meanwhile, residents welcomed the move and said that renovation of the old parks were much needed.
Sunil Yadav, president of Palam Vihar RWA, said, “Parks in Palam Vihar need an urgent renovation as they have not been renovated for years now. Pathways are missing in some of these parks and in many swings are also also broker. We had raised the issue with the local councillor and we are glad that the civic body has decided to renovate the parks in our area. It is a welcome move.”
