US Open 2020 Men's Singles Semi-finals LIVE Updates: Pablo Carreno Busta takes the first set of the semi-final 6-3 against Alexander Zverev. Zverev went a double break down and even though he got one back, Carreno Busta served out the set in the second time of asking. Alexander Zverev and Pablo Carreno Busta begin the men's singles semi-final line-up on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Their match will be followed by a mightily interesting battle between world No.3 Dominic Thiem and last year's US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev.

Both Alexander Zverev and Pablo Carreno Busta are eyeing their first Grand Slam final and this is a second semi-final for both of them. While this is a second US Open semi-final for Carreno Busta, it's a first in Flushing Meadows for Zverev. In the match-up between Medvedev and Thiem, both are Grand Slam finalists. While Thiem is a two-time French Open finalist, Medvedev played Rafae Nadal in the final of the US Open last year.

Pablo Carreno Busta does it in the second time of asking! He serves out the set without any major blip again. Alexander Zverev's early low level cost him and even though he got one break back, he couldn't get another and the first set slipped away. Carreno Busta takes the first set 6-3.

And just like that, Pablo Carreno Busta takes the first set 6-3 over Zverev.

Carreno Busta* 5-3 Zverev | Alexander Zverev hold his serve with ease! This is exactly what the German needed right now. He can now concentrate on trying to break Carreno Busta once again when the Spaniard serves for the first set for the second time.

Carreno Busta 5-2 Zverev* | Alexander Zverev has found some way back in this one! Carreno Busta perhaps had nerves all over when he was serving for the set and Zverev went on the offensive to break him back. The German has one break back, he needs one more to stretch the set though!

Currently he is struggling to break away from the defence of Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta and that has cost him so far. A double break down and Carreno Busta will be serving for the first set.

For the first time in 16 years, the men’s semifinals at a Grand Slam tournament will be contested without any of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic participating. Instead, the matchups at Flushing Meadows on Friday will feature a quartet of 20-somethings all seeking a first major championship. The eventual champion will be the first man born in the 1990s to grab a Grand Slam trophy: Zverev is 23, Medvedev is 24, Thiem turned 27 a week ago, and Carreo Busta is 29.

Women's Singles Semifinals: Victoria Azarenka beat No. 3 Serena Williams 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; No. 4 Naomi Osaka beat No. 28 Jennifer Brady 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-3. Men's Doubles Final: Bruno Soares and Mate Pavic beat Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic 7-5, 6-3.
