MANGALURU: Even as Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka continues to witness high number of
Covid-19 cases, the district administration has advised elderly people, children and those who are suffering from various illnesses to undergo tests (for Covid-19) immediately.
The district has recorded 3,845 positive cases of Covid-19 and 66 deaths in the last 11 days from September 1. Meanwhile, on Friday, the district reported 446 fresh cases of virus infection, which is the second highest single-day spike.
The district had recorded its highest single day spike with 448 positive cases on August 28. The district also reported seven Covid19 related deaths on Friday taking the death tally to 434.
While the district has 3,515 active cases, the total number of people infected with the virus has increased to 16,558.
Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, “Spread of infection may worsen the health in elderly persons, children and those with various illnesses. Hence, they should immediately go for check-up if they have met a Covid19 positive person.”
