Odisha: Four pair of special trains to be run for NEET exam
Representative Image. BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run four pair of special trains on Saturday and Sunday for the candidates who want to appear the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to be held on September 13.
These passenger trains will be run in four routes- Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar, Keonjhargarh-Bhubaneswar, Rayagada-Sambalpur and Khariar Road-Sambalpur. Students will board the trains to come to their examination cities on Saturday and return their home in the train on Sunday evening after examination is over.
Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar MEMU train will leave Bhadrak at 4pm on Saturday and reach Bhubaneswar at 7.30pm via Cuttack. It's return train will leave Bhubaneswar at 7pm on Sunday and reach Bhadrak at 10.30pm on the same day.
Similarly, Keonjhargarh-Bhubaneswar MEMU train will start from Keonjhargarh at 4pm and reach Bhubaneswar at 7.45pm on Saturday. It's return train will leave Bhubaneswar at 7.30pm on Sunday and arrive at Keonjhargarh at 11.15pm that night.
Rayagada-Sambalpur passenger special will leave Rayagada at 4pm on Saturday and reach Sambalpur at 10.30pm. It's return train will start from Sambalpur at 11pm on Sunday and reach Rayagada at 5.30am on Monday.
Khariar Road-Sambalpur passenger special will leave Khariar Road at 4pm on Saturday and reach Sambalpur at 10.30pm. It's return train will start from Sambalpur at 11pm on Sunday and reach Khariar Road at 4.30am on Monday.
The NEET will be conducted for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in medical institutions. As many as 37,459 candidates are scheduled to appear the NEET at 83 examination centres in seven cities across Odisha.
These cities are- Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Angul, Rourkela and Sambalpur. More than 15,000 students will appear for the test at 31 examination centres in Bhubaneswar.
Last year, 33,797 candidates had registered to appear for the NEET at 54 examination centres in the state. This year, the NTA has increased the number of the examination centres in order to maintain physical distancing at the centres during this Covid time.
