As part of a new programme, the two partners will work together on addressing challenges encountered by the tourism sector of Singapore.
With the help of the said partnership, various solutions as well as efforts will be looked at to aid the sector in modifying their businesses, turn to new audiences, and get ready to draw international visitors. With soaring demand for contactless options in this pandemic situation all over world, the partnership will start with co-creating digital initiatives for flawless international travel and e-commerce, as well as providing superlative consumer experience.
This collaboration is under Mastercard’s City Possible programme. It has been designed with the vision to #MakeTechWorkForPeople by aligning the prime stakeholders to deal with the tough situation faced by city planners. City Possible connects its members to holistic urban solutions and offers unmatched access to the best knowledge from world urban leaders, businesses, NGOs and academics.
In this program, Mastercard and STB will be working together on these projects with the following objectives:
Joint development of technology – The partners will team up to research and build up ways to improve STB’s Visit Singapore Pass (VSP) to offer more contactless ticketing and payments for tourism in Singapore. This will make journeys more hassle-free for all consumers in Singapore, tourists and locals alike.
Generate insights and spot the trends – Also, the partners will share data insights2 and pool resources in utilizing the business planning insights in tourism industry. For instance, information on spending VSP is a single digital pass that offers travelers accessing curated experiences across Singapore seamlessly, using a universal ticketing standard.
Joint marketing – The partners will earmark the opportunities to work in cooperation on joint marketing and advertising that will attract visitors to explore Singapore’s tourism offerings, as Singapore prepares for the gradual return of international visitors.
“We are honoured to partner Mastercard as this collaboration will allow for greater sharing of ideas, resources, and expertise. This partnership places Singapore and STB on the path to becoming a global lab for solutions and pilots, creating travel experiences that are safe, yet personalised to the needs of our visitors,” said Keith Tan, chief executive of Singapore Tourism Board.
