
NTA JEE Main result 2020 LIVE UPDATES: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the results for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main today. The students who have appeared in the examination can check the results through the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Over 8.67 lakh students had appeared in the JEE Main this year which was conducted from September 1 to 6, after it was postponed on several occasions due to COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was held at 660 centres across the country following strict COVID-19 guidelines,. The students can also download the final answer key through the official website.

JEE Main scores are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.
If you are among those thousands of students who could not make it through the JEE Main, do not lose heart as there are many forts you can still conquer to achieve your dream degree. Only 2.4 lakh candidates qualify for JEE Advanced and the rest are left with state-level colleges. Since there are limited seats in IITs, NITs as well, those below 90 percentile can find it difficult to get a seat in NITs as well.

Amid the row over conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) for admission to premier engineering colleges in times of Covid, attendance for the exam held between September 1 and 6 fell by 20 percentage points over the first cycle held in January. While 94.32 per cent of registered students appeared for the exam held in January 2020, attendance fell to 74 per cent for the exam held earlier this month — the first national entrance test amidst the pandemic.
According to data shared earlier by the National Testing Agency, attendance for JEE (Main) was 94.11 per cent in January 2019, 94.15 per cent in April 2019, and 94.32 per cent in January this year.

On the basis of JEE Main results, students can take admission in state-level engineering colleges, universities including NITs. For IITs, only top 2.4 lakh will be selected to appear for JEE Advanced.

This year, the JEE Main was held on a new pattern. The numerical type questions were introduced for the first time this year. These questions did not have any negative marking. The number of MCQs was also reduced in addition to these questions
Candidates who will qualify the exam by meeting the required cut-off will become eligible to appear for JEE Advanced and for admission into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. JEE Advanced will be conducted on September 27. The registration for the exam will start on September 12

In case two or more candidates obtain the same score in paper 1 for B.Tech/ B.E, the NTA specified guidelines for inter-se merit will be applied where candidates with higher marks in maths, physics, chemistry and less negative responses will be considered for a higher ranking in the order specified. For B.Arch/ B.Plan, candidates with a higher score in maths followed by an aptitude test, drawing, less negative responses will be considered for a higher ranking.
Only those who secure a rank in top 2,45,000 in JEE Main result are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced. In 2019, only 1.65 lakh candidates opted to apply for IIT-entrance exam. In 2018, out of 2.31 lakh students who qualified for the JEE Advanced, 1.65 lakh candidates chose to register for it
After declaration of result, the data is handed over to the Centralised Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)/JoSAA or the concerned State government or institute for seat allocation process and admission procedure. The NTA does not collect the information regarding the total number of seats available in the institutions and reservation criteria followed by the institutions, candidates need to check the same with the respective colleges
Percentile scoring is a mechanism of given relative marks to students. Instead of the marks each candidate has gained, there will be a comparison between the candidates and those who have score maximum will get 100 percentile which can even mean 97/100. Therefore the topper(highest score) of each session will get the same percentile of 100 which is desirable. The marks obtained in between the highest and lowest scores are also converted to appropriate Percentiles.
