The Red Sox made three roster moves about an hour before first pitch Friday.

Josh Taylor (left shoulder tendinitis) was placed on the 10-day injured list and Colten Brewer (right middle finger strain) was transferred to the 45-day IL. That opened a 40-man roster spot, and Boston selected right-handed reliever Domingo Tapia from the alternate site.

Taylor missed the first half of the season recovering from COVID-19 and pitched to a 9.82 earned-run average in eight games. His velocity was noticeably down in his last outing against the Blue Jays on Saturday. Taylor allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in a 9-8 victory.

Brewer made the first four starts of his career this season and posted a 5.61 ERA in 11 games. This transfer to the extended IL effectively ends his 2020 season. Tapia made 44 appearances at Triple-A Pawtucket last season, pitching to a 5.18 ERA in 66 innings.
