New Corvette C8.R Available For Gamers On iRacing

The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R, complete with its screaming 5.5-liter V8 engine, is now available on iRacing.

Chevrolet built the new Corvette C8.R for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the car making its racing debut at the 2020 Rolex 24 in Daytona. The C8.R has gone on to claim a handful of race wins, including back-to-back 1-2 finishes at Sebring International Raceway and Road America.

Gamers will be able to purchase the C8.R as part of the 2020 Season 4 build of the popular racing simulator.

“We’re excited to continue our long-standing relationship with Chevrolet as we welcome the Corvette C8.R to iRacing,” iRacing executive vice president and executive producer Steve Myers said. “The C8.R has already proven to be incredibly popular in the real world, and our users have been requesting it ever since it made its public debut last year. We’d like to thank General Motors, Pratt & Miller and Corvette Racing for their support in bringing the C8.R to the virtual world, and we look forward to iRacers getting their hands on it for the first time this week!”

“Corvette Racing is on a roll this season with the C8.R, and we are excited for iRacing fans to experience the exhilarating mid-engine performance of this car in the virtual world,” added GM U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports, Jim Campbell.

Powering the C8.R is a 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine with a flat-plane crank that delivers 500 hp and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque in racing specification. What’s particularly exciting about this engine is that it will find its way into the C8 Z06 where it could be upgraded to produce as much as 625 hp and 485 lb-ft (657 Nm) of torque.
