A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed another in the back and side in the middle of a Sydney street.
Emergency services were called to Station Road, Auburn, western Sydney, at 6.30pm on Thursday.
A 40-year-old man was walking on the road when he was allegedly approached by Gulfam Hussain.

The two men allegedly started brawling in the street before a knife was pulled, and the older man was allegedly stabbed in the back and side.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
The man is considered to be in a serious but stable condition following treatment.
Hussain was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with an attempt to murder.
He will appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday.
