Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik Chakraborty’s bail pleas were rejected by a special court today. Advocate Satish Manshinde, who is representing the Chakraborty family, shared in a statement that they are likely to approach High Court. “Once we get a copy of the NDPS Spl Court Order , we will decide next week on the course of action about approaching the High Court ,” stated the lawyer. Rhea and Showik were arrested by the
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) with regards to the drugs angle that is being probed into
Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
While Showik was arrested last week, Rhea was taken into custody by the NCB on Tuesday night. On the same day, her bail plea was rejected by a magistrate court and the actress was sent to 14-day judicial custody. After her arrest, Rhea was taken for a medical check-up and Covid-19 test at Sion hospital, following which she spent the night in NCB’s custody and was later shifted to Byculla jail.
In her bail plea submitted and argued by advocate Satish Maneshinde, Rhea had stated that she was coerced into making self-incriminating confessions which she had formally retracted. While the NCB had stated in its response to Rhea’s bail application, "Accused Rhea Chakraborty has acknowledged their statements and her role explained. During statement present accused Rhea Chakraborty revealed about her involvement in the procurement of drug and financial transaction and also her instructions to
Samuel Miranda, Dipesh Sawant and applicant Showik Chakraborty in this regard. Therefore it is clear from the statement that the applicant is an active member of drug syndicate connected with drug supplies."
