Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP in Delhi Manoj Jha on Friday filed nomination for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He is the opposition's candidate for the post.

Janata Dal-United (JDU) Rajya Sabha MP Harivansh Prasad Singh has already filed nomination as an NDA candidate. At the same time, Manoj Jha has also filed his nomination as an opposition candidate.

This time the fight for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha is going to be interesting as both the candidates are from Bihar and assembly elections are due soon in Bihar. In this case, the fight will be JDU vs RJD.

Please tell that Manoj Jha has reached Rajya Sabha for the first time. He is known as a skilled spokesman. Also, his honesty is also discussed. The Rajya Sabha has a total of 245 members. Of these, 116 MPs belong to the NDA. Apart from this, NDA is likely to get support from other parties including Biju Janata Dal (BJD), YSR Congress Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi. In such a situation, the probability of victory of the NDA candidate is high.

On the other hand, in the matter of Harivansh Prasad, he has already been elected as the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha once in 2018. As the NDA candidate, he defeated the opposition candidate BK Hari Prasad. At that time Harivansh got 125 votes, while BK Hariprasad got 105 votes. In 2014, Harivansh was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. Harivansh has also been an additional information adviser to former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar.
