Gurgaon: Seven masked men robbed a woman of Rs 4.5 lakh and 200 gram of gold at gunpoint early on Thursday. The incident took place when the victim, Suman, who lives with her husband and son in Bilaspur area and runs Krishan dairy farm, went to wake up house helps living in a cottage on the same premises around 2am. A case of robbery and house trespass has been registered with the Bilaspur police station.
Suman told the police that she woke up around 2am and called a helper and when she didn’t get an answer, she walked up to their room. “I saw seven armed men had tied up the two helpers and when I was about to raise an alarm, they tied my hands at gunpoint,” she said in her statement to the police.
She added that while two of the armed robbers guarded them, five others barged inside the house and broke the locker. “The ordeal lasted for about an hour and they took Rs 4.5 lakh, around 200 gram of gold and two cellphones. They also took my car along with the documents. The accused left behind a bag containing cartridges which I handed over to the police,” she said, adding that when the robbers left, they somehow managed to untie themselves and informed the police.
A police officer investigating the matter said that it looks like the work of professional dacoits who might have done visited the area several times before carrying out the crime. “Since dairy farms are mostly located in secluded spots, their owners are easy targets. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against unidentified accused under sections 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 395 (punishment for dacoity), 458 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is on,” the officer said, adding that they are scanning CCTV footages of near by areas for leads in the case.
