Drainage plan: Panel to seek experts’ help

Gurgaon: The 10-member committee constituted by the civic body for drafting a drainage plan for the city has decided to seek recommendations from retired engineers, who have better understanding of drainage and have served longer periods with key departments.
In a meeting chaired by MCG’s additional commissioner Jaspreet Kaur here on Thursday, it was also decided to take suggestions from former Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) engineer-in-chief KK Bhugra on the flood-prone areas. GMDA has already constituted a seven-member committee chaired by Bhugra to probe the cause of flooding in several areas of the city following heavy rainfall in August.
A few councillors have visited certain areas and given their suggestions to improve the drainage system. The committee members will visit flood-prone areas that have been already identified in the next two to three days and the old residents of the city will be consulted for suggestions to improve the system.
The committee will submit a report by September 30.
