22 members of same family tested positive for the novel coronavirus after attending a wedding in Pune

Despite of continuous warnings from the administration and police, Punekars are still taking the pandemic situation in a casual way. In what comes a shocking incident, 22 members of same family tested positive for the novel coronavirus after attending a wedding.

The restrictions over wedding are been lifted for a while but people are taking a complete advantage making crowd at such events. Though wedding ceremonies have begun to take place all across the country, people have been counselled to take all defences, maintain social distancing and not gather in big numbers. Amid a situation where coronavirus cases are still rising in the nation, nearly 22 members of one single-family tested positive for the contagion after attending a marriage ceremony in Pune.

The incident took place in Wagholi’s Satav Vasti. After 22 people tested positive for the contagion in the wedding ceremony, the health officials had to send 48 close contacts into isolation. The area was also required to be declared a quarantine zone.

An official from the Haveli block development office told the Times of India, “The family had been to a wedding in the Pune municipal limits over the weekend. Some of them started showing Covid-19 symptoms after returning to Satav Vasti. When tested over the last few days, 22 of them came positive.”

Meanwhile, Janata curfew has been imposed in Wagholi amid the rising cases of the novel infection. In the latest total, Pune recorded a total of 87 deaths among coronavirus patients, taking the tally to 4,881. The district also reported 4,935 COVID-19 cases taking the total number of cases to 2,09,425.
