CHENNAI:
M C Chandran, the
nephew of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran, died of Covid-19 on Friday while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Chennai. He was 79.
Chandran was the son of M G Chakrapani, who was the elder brother of
MGR.
In a joint statement, AIADMK coordinator and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and party joint coordinator and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami expressed their condolences on the passing away of Chandran.
“We pray to the almighty to give the required strength to his family, suffering from this personal loss, to withstand this crisis,” they said in a statement.
AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran took to Twitter to express his condolences on the demise of MGR’s nephew.
“I am saddened to know about the passing away of our beloved Dr MGR’s brother M G Chakrapani’s son M C Chandran. I express my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,” Dhinakaran said.
