NOIDA: More and more passengers are availing the metro services with each passing day. Wednesday saw a 50% increase in Aqua Line footfalls, with a total of 1,061 commuters riding trains from the Noida to Greater Noida. On Tuesday, some 725 passengers had ventured out to catch an Aqua Line train, while the ridership was recorded at 600 on Monday, when the Noida Metro Rail Corporation resumed services.
Meanwhile, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday resumed its Blue Line services from Dwarka to Vaishali. However, there is a time difference in the evening services of NMRC and DMRC. While NMRC gates close at 9 pm, DMRC gates close at 8 pm. Also NMRC frequency is 15 minutes, while it is 5 minutes for DMRC.
“The morning ridership has witnessed a rise, which shows people are feeling confident in using mass transport. While all measures for social distancing have been meticulously implemented, individual responsibility is most important in following the Covid precutions,” said an NMRC official. All 10 NMRC stations are providing parking facilities to commuters. “Though we cannot segregate the Noida sector ridership, the Blue Line in total had a ridership of 22,600. The numbers are likely to increase over the coming days,” DMRC sources said.
