AGRA: The Mathura police on Thursday booked over 30 workers of Congress youth wing for violating prohibitory order and taking out a candle light march against the government a day earlier.
The FIR has been registered against the district youth congress president Yaten Mukaddam along with seven identified ones and 25 unidentified persons for violating prohibitory orders, 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease) of IPC and sections 3 and 5 of The Epidemic Disease Act.
Police said that the protesters had not taken prior permission for the march and they were not following social distancing norms. Besides they did not wear masks while taking out the procession.
However, Congress workers claimed that they had informed the local intelligence officer and other concerned officials about their 9 minutes candle march at Holygate chowk but they did not object that time and later they registered an FIR against them.
Talking to media persons, Mukaddam said that the march was taken out to raise the voice of unemployed youths. He said that the central government had betrayed the youths by promising to provide employment to 2 crore people.
“Even after spending a lot of money on education, youths are not getting jobs and our aim is to raise their voice by organising the program - Ek Lau Jalao,” said Mukaddam.
