THANE: As many as nine outstation train passengers were tested positive for
Covid-19 at a testing centre at Thane railway station on Thursday.
Municipal officials said that 846 passengers were screened on Thursday of which nine tested positive who have now been recommended further treatment.
It may be noted that the
Thane municipal corporation started screening of outstation passengers arriving in the city at the railway station to detect possible suspect Covid patients last week after it got wary of rising cases in the city.
“There is a possibility of such passengers unknowingly carrying the virus with them in the city and become the cause of concern, if not detected in time. Accordingly, we are simply taking an extra step of precaution and getting them tested before they enter the city. Those found positive will be advised treatment,” said a senior municipal official.
