Sharad Pawar frowns on Sena-Kangana war

MUMBAI: NCP chief Sharad Pawar has expressed displeasure over the manner in which the Shiv Sena-controlled BMC demolished a portion of the Bandra bungalow of actor Kangana Ranaut. The NCP has taken the view that the BMC action was in haste, and as a result, it was immediately stayed by the Bombay high court.
“I have no information on the illegal construction. Illegal and unauthorised constructions are not new for BMC. But questions have been raised in view of the current situation and timing of the demolition. BMC has its own rules, the officials involved in the demolition process must have followed the procedure,” the NCP chief said.
“In Mumbai, there are 95,000 illegal and unauthorised structures, but the Senacontrolled BMC is taking action selectively. The demolition of Ranaut’s office has had its adverse impact on the Maha Vikas Aghadi government,” a senior NCP minister told TOI. Congress did not react to Pawar’s statement.
The NCP chief had a prolonged meeting with CM Uddhav Thackeray. According to reports, they discussed the Ranaut issue, Supreme Court verdict on Maratha reservation, and the Covid-19 pandemic. “We are giving her undue importance for her statements. People do not take such statements seriously. Media should not give undue publicity to such statements,” Pawar said without naming Ranaut.
