Punjab scholarship scam: AAP leader Harpal Cheema stages protest at Nabha

NABHA/PATIALA (PUNJAB): Leader of the opposition Harpal Cheema on Thursday joined the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 'Pakka Morcha' to demand the sacking of minister Sadhu Singh Dharmasot in the Rs 64-crore scam in the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme related to Dalit students at Nabha in the Patiala district of Punjab.
After the police arrested AAP leaders, Cheema, AAP MLA from Dirba assembly constituency located in Sangrur district, staged a sit-in in front of Nabha police station with about 150 supporters, which continued till late night.
During the protest Cheema said Sadhu Singh Dharmasot is guilty of ruining the future of Dalit students and until "such corrupt leaders" were removed from the minister's chair and a case was registered against him, "the party will continue to protest in Nabha".
He said as the name of Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Congress MLA from Phagwara, has also cropped up in this scam, the party has also started a sit-in in front of Dhaliwal's residence in Phagwara, which has entered the second day today.
AAP leader Baljinder Kaur said if chief minister Amarinder Singh did not take action against his tainted minister, his house will also be surrounded.
She demanded the monitoring of the probe by a sitting judge of the high court and setting up a three-member team by the Center to investigate the scam.
