GURUGRAM: The number of Covid-19 patients in home
isolation in the city has nearly doubled in the last 10 days as 80% of the reported
cases were asymptomatic, according to the health department.
From August 31 till September 9, the city recorded 2,068 cases. Out of these, 1,662 patients were asymptomatic, all of whom are currently in
home isolation. Compared to this, 858 patients were in
home isolation on August 31.
“Around 80% of the new
Covid cases are asymptomatic and have been advised to stay under home isolation. We are monitoring their movement. We have observed that families of the patients are getting infected because social distancing norms are not being followed properly, which is a big concern,” said a senior health official.
The city on Tuesday reported 260 new cases, taking its tally to 13,986. A total of 182 people also recovered on the day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 11,988. No one succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, officials said. Till date, 140 people have died of Covid-19 in the city, of whom 98 had comorbidities.
Out of
Gurugram’s 1,858 active cases, 155 patients are in hospitals while 23 others are in Covid care centres. Another 18 people are under government quarantine.
Till date, 1,95,189 people have been put under surveillance in the district. The health department has so far sent 1,89,355 samples for testing, of which 1,72,624 returned negative while the results of 1,350 are awaited. In the past 24 hours, the health authorities collected 2,745 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests.
