Whistleblower: W.House stifled reporting on Russian election interference
- A senior US intelligence official said the White House ordered him to stop reporting on Russian election interference and highlight Chinese and Iran meddling instead, according to a whistleblower complaint revealed Wednesday.
- Offering explosive evidence to support Democratic allegations that President Donald Trump has manipulated intelligence to support his reelection effort, Department of Homeland Security analyst Brian Murphy said he was told by acting DHS chief Chad Wolf that assessments on the Russian threat made Trump "look bad."
- Wolf told him the order to stifle his analyses "specifically originated from White House National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien," a top Trump aide, Murphy alleged in the complaint.
US revokes visas for 1,000 Chinese under Trump order
- The United States has revoked visas of more than 1,000 Chinese students and researchers under an order by President Donald Trump that accused some of them of espionage, the State Department said Wednesday.
- Trump, in a May 29 proclamation as tensions rose with Beijing on multiple fronts, declared that some Chinese nationals officially in the United States for study have stolen intellectual property and helped modernize China's military.
- The State Department, offering its first figures on the effects of Trump's order, said that more than 1,000 visas have been revoked since it began implementing the proclamation on June 1
IAF will formally induct Rafale aircraft today at 10 am in Ambala
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) will formally induct the Rafale aircraft today at 10 am, at Air Force Station in Ambala. The aircraft will be part of 17 Squadron, the "Golden Arrows".
- The first five Indian Air Force Rafale aircraft arrived at Air Force Station, Ambala from France on July 27, 2020.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of the Armed Forces of France Florence Parly will be the chief guests for the event.
Trump downplayed COVID risk to reduce panic: Book
- President Donald Trump has acknowledged downplaying the dangers of the deadly novel coronavirus as he did not want to create panic, according to a new book by a renowned US investigative journalist.
- The book, 'Rage', by Bob Woodward is being described by the publisher as an "unprecedented" and "intimate tour de force" of new reporting on the Trump presidency that is facing a pandemic, economic disaster and racial unrest. It is scheduled to hit the stores on September 15, less than two months before the November 3 presidential elections.
- Excerpts of the book and clippings of the interviews with Trump were released by Woodward to some media outlets on Wednesday.
