Coronavirus India Updates: India Reports Nearly 96,000 New Cases To Take Total Tally Above 44 Lakh
India recorded the highest number of fresh Covid-19 cases reported by any county in a single day, breaking a record the country itself had set last week.
India added nearly 96,000 cases of infection in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally to over 44.6 lakh in the world’s second-most populous country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 10. That's only behind U.S.’ 63 lakh cases, which could also be eclipsed if the virus continues to spread in the country at the current rate.
Key figures:
- Total number of confirmed coronavirus cases: 44,65,863
- Active cases: 9,19,018
- Cured/discharged/migrated: 34,71,783
- Deaths: 75,062
- Number of fresh cases in last 24 hours: 95,735
- One-day recoveries: 72,939
- One-day deaths: 1,172
Active cases -- that have crossed the 9 lakh mark -- are still 21% of the total Covid-19 pie in India while fatalities have dropped to 1.7%.
