PATIALA: Around 10 months after a theft was reported in the defunct Biomass plant, the police have booked over 30 people, including three identified, under various sections of the IPC.
The case was registered on the complaint of Om Prakash, a chartered accountant by profession, who alleged that the police did not take any action in the matter. He said that the 12 MW Punjab Biomass plant was commissioned in June 2010. However, its operations were stopped in 2018 reportedly following huge losses.
“In our first visit as desired by the police, we obtained orders from National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on 28 November 2019 directing Ghanaur police and SSP to provide safety to me and my staff and extend their full co-operation for the security of the assets. In my second visit on January 10, this year, I noted that nothing was left at the site. Even the building with its foundation was missing. Since our first visit, numerous emails were sent to various police officials, CM office etc. highlighting the the theft. In response to one of the emails, we received an email from dgp.complaint.police@punjab.gov.in with a copy to CMO that mentioned that that our complaint had been recorded under SAANJH UID No.1737197, on January 27 this year. Multiple follow-up emails were sent to get the status of the complaint, but no response was received. Due to the non-recording of FIR, I filed an application with NCLT which was first heard on 10 August 2020 and then on 08 Sept 2020 which was attended on video by SSP, Patiala. The police registered the case same day”, said, complainant Om Prakash.
The police said three accused were identified while 30 unidentified were also booked for theft, snatching, assault, rioting and other sections of the IPC at Ghanaur police station.
