The Indian markets were holding firm their early morning gains on Thursday as the Supreme Court began hearing in the loan moratorium matter.
The S&P BSE Sensex gained 260 points to 38,450 levels and the Nifty50 index was testing the 11,350-mark. IndusInd Bank (up 3%) was the top Sensex gainer. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries scaled a new lifetime high after gaining 2 per cent amid reports that marquee investors including KKR, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) could be in line to pick stakes in the company's retail-arm Reliance Retail Ltd. All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty PSU Bank index, up 1.9 per cent.
The broader markets were outperforming their benchmark peers with the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indexes gaining over 1 per cent each.
